Jordan’s physiotherapy practice spans twenty years in many practice settings. These have included everything from high-profile sports injury clinics with elite level clientele to industrial clinics within a factory setting to rehabilitating the complex and serious injuries found in a provincial trauma centre.

In 2008, he opened Momentum Physiotherapy Clinic in his Riverside South neighbourhood, delivering expert care to clients outside of the city core, seeing athletes and community members alike.  His practice continued to evolve and in 2016, he took his expertise in physiotherapy and exercise physiology, combined it with his love for improving sport performance and injury prevention in youth athletes and became a partner in Amped Sports Lab (www.ampedsportslab.com) in Ottawa, Ontario. Within Amped, he has opened a state-of-the-art clinical treatment area as well as having a performance gym and an ice surface to carry out physiotherapy sessions to help his patients recover faster.

There are many ways to approach client care as a physiotherapist, but Jordan believes to be effective, he must be hands-on with his clients. He achieved the highest level of manual therapy accreditation available in Canada, becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMT) in 2004.

After the Fellowship in manual therapy was awarded, Jordan trained in Gunn IMS, (Intramuscular Stimulation) to add needling techniques to his manual therapy approach.

He then returned to his original exercise background from his degree at Western, and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), the premier performance coach designation in North America.

His combination of manual therapy, IMS and exercise training expertise provides Jordan the ability to guide all levels of athlete from the acute injury phase through the entire recovery process including the training they need to return to their sport. He can integrate high level performance exercise and sport vision training into their programs at the appropriate time.

Jordan’s wide range of skills have made him popular with athletes that have not been successful with other treatments for their long-standing injuries, and he is known as a troubleshooter for persistent problems in the athletic population.

As a registered physiotherapist with years of experience in personal training, Ian has dedicated his professional career to learning ways to rehabilitate injuries and optimize the body’s health. Obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa and then following it up with his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy in 2018, Ian serves his local community, helping the people within it reach their health and fitness goals.

Ian developed his interest in the field of health and fitness early on when he played elite hockey. Being drafted into the Ontario Hockey League and playing Junior A hockey allowed him the opportunity to be exposed to great fitness coaches and physiotherapists. Having had his fair share of injuries himself during his time playing, he learned first-hand what it takes to rehabilitate an injury, then optimize the body’s performance to get back to playing at a high level.

Ian’s educational background makes him strongly believe that the human body’s health depends on multiple factors including, but not limited to, optimized sleep, healthy nutrition, proper stress management, movement and exercise. His evidence-based practice combines patient education, manual therapy and exercise prescription to achieve optimal wellness.

Ian is continuing his education by taking multiple post-graduate courses including:

  • McKenzie Part A – Lumbar Spine
  • McKenzie Part B – Cervical and Thoracic Spine
  • The Mulligan Concept: Upper Quadrant
  • Level 1 Cranio-Sacral Therapy with Doreen Killens
  • PRI (Postural Restoration Institute) – Postural Respiration
  • AMA (Athletic Movement Assessment) – Upper Extremities
  • Functional Dry Needling

He has also completed numerous strength and conditioning courses, including:

  • Pinnacle Performance Biomechanics Program
  • Pinnacle Advanced Biomechanics Program
  • DTS (Darby Training Systems) Level 1
  • DTS Hypertrophy
  • DTS Low Back Course

Ian is a bilingual therapist who is happy to provide services in French or English.
